Frequently Asked Questions about Hot Fitness Yoga
How many calories does one Hot Yoga class burn?
Health professionals have estimated between 400-1200 calories are burned per class.
Can I practice if I have a health condition?
Many health conditions improve through regular Hot Yoga practices. In fact, some doctors now prescribe Hot Yoga as a form of physical therapy. Hot Yoga heals and strengthens the body from the inside out, and is especially beneficial to the immune system. Always check with your doctor before embarking on this or any other exercise program.
What if I'm not very flexible, can I still do Hot Yoga?
Most people are not very flexible, and they become more inflexible over time. Muscles and joints stiffen from under use, which often occurs as we age. Many jobs require long hours of sitting or bending. This can compress and disfigure the spine while causing muscles to conform to this incorrect alignment. Hot Yoga helps to alleviate stiffness and creates flexibility, keeping the spine supple and in correct alignment. If you are not flexible, that's more reason to begin yoga practice.
How long will it take before I see results?
It does not take long to see the results of Hot Yoga. Depending on the frequency of classes, results occur in as little as two weeks.
What should I expect for my first class?
Usually the first couple of classes are the most challenging because toxins in the body are rapidly released and your body hasn't acclimated to the heat. You will soon discover that the heat is a powerful tool to help open and detoxify the body unlike anything else. Come with no expectations, just a light heart, open mind, and a well hydrated body. Most students feel amazingly detoxified and relaxed after their first class.
What should I bring?
